Gutters that work with your roof and your property.

A gutter system needs to collect roof runoff and direct it away from the roofline and surrounding construction. Helms Construction evaluates gutters, downspouts and related exterior details before recommending a scope.

A clear construction plan

Start with the
actual conditions.

Overflowing or leaking gutters can have several causes, including debris, damaged sections, unsuitable drainage paths or problems at the attachment points. We look at the relevant components and explain whether repair, replacement or related exterior work is appropriate.

Helms handles 6-inch gutters, downspouts, gutter replacement and gutter protection systems. The proposed system should suit the roof geometry and existing construction; a larger gutter alone does not resolve every drainage issue.

What we evaluate

The goal is to understand how water moves from the roof into the gutter system and where it goes next.

  • Gutter condition, joints and attachment points
  • Downspout condition and locations
  • Observed overflow, leaks and discharge paths
  • Fascia and soffit conditions where accessible
  • Connections between roofing edges and gutters

Gutter guards and protection

Gutter protection may help manage debris, but the appropriate choice depends on the roof, surrounding trees and existing system. We discuss practical limitations and maintenance considerations rather than promising a maintenance-free gutter.

Coordinate with roof or exterior work

Gutter replacement can be planned alongside a roof replacement or exterior restoration. Where fascia, soffit or trim repairs are needed, coordinating the work helps establish the correct order of construction. Storm-damaged gutters can also be documented as part of a property inspection.

What to expect
